WE ARE TRYING TO RETURN ANDRII TO A NORMAL LIFE

32-year-old Andrii is a participant is a resident of a home for the elderly in the village of Peremoha.

We really hope that it is temporary. After all, our ward is not just a person of a young age, he is an energetic, tenacious, goal-oriented boy who really wants to escape from the trap of his illnesses and return to his usual life.

Before the terrible road accident, after which a series of tragic events happened to our hero, Andrii had been living with a diagnosis of diabetes for many years. He lived as he understood – studied, worked as a cook, got married.

After a car accident, he lost an eye, the second he almost completely lost his sight, he went crazy, because of which he suffered a lot, he started drinking and smoking a lot, but a stroke stopped such an unpleasant way of drowning grief, instead he got a partial paralysis of the body.

It is hard to find a bigger optimist and a persistent «marathon runner» in self-recovery. On his own and through his friends, Andrii is constantly looking for and finding different ways to rehabilitate after a stroke, initiates communication that supports him a lot. For his 30th anniversary, he asked us for a special smart phone for the blind with headphones for texting, calling to his friends, looking for useful information for his recovery and more. He himself with hie pension pays for certain services and medicines recommended by specialists.

In 2020, at Andriy’s request, we organized a trip to Kyiv for two different eye surgery consultations to restore vision. One to a well-known private clinic, the other to a consultation with a well-known ophthalmic surgeon from Odesa, who came to the capital city of Ukraine. Unfortunately, such an operation is not possible today for various reasons. Andrei was a little upset, but over time, studying information about new technologies in this area on the Internet, got hope for a super-innovative implant, on which scientists are already working.

Meanwhile, our hero receives rehabilitative massages, does exercises every day, also studies everything about his rehabilitation, asks when something is needed. Yesterday, he was given a bicycle track, which was recommended to him by a rehabilitator. Here is a video of his first training. We are happy with this good news and thank all the benefactors of the fund for their support!
