

Nadiya Hryhorivna Krasnozhon, an 89-year-old poet, author, member of the All-Ukrainian Creative Union Literary Forum, who lives in a nursing home in the village of Peremoha.
Nadiya Krasnozhon was born on 4 November 1936 in the village of Yadlivka, Novobasansky District, Chernihiv Region (now the village of Peremoha, Baryshivsky District, Kyiv Region). She graduated from a seven-year school in the neighbouring village of Rusanivka, and later from the Kyiv Geological Exploration Technical School. She worked for 15 years in geological exploration expeditions outside Ukraine. She graduated from the Novosibirsk Electrotechnical Institute by correspondence. She worked as an engineer at military-industrial complex enterprises. Now she is not on a pension. She has been writing since childhood. Her first book, ‘The Limit,’ was published in 2008, her second, ‘The Surrounding World,’ in 2016, her third, ‘Bouquet,’ in 2017, the fourth, Osin (Autumn), in 2019, the fifth, Ozon (Ozone), in 2021, and the sixth, Ukrainska dolya (Ukrainian Destiny), which was completed and typeset in 2023 and published in early 2024. The last five collections were published thanks to the fund’s benefactors.
Due to a hip injury, Nadiya Hryhorivna has been unable to walk or even sit for several years. Living in a nursing home with two roommates, Ms. Nadiya finds time to read books, listen to radio programmes and, most surprisingly, write poetry and prose.
The author’s books are sold with her permission, and, at her request, all proceeds go to the institution where she lives.
